Emily Yang joined Barnes Lipscomb & Stewart PLLC in 2021 and focuses her practice primarily on probate, heirship and guardianship issues in Travis, Williamson and surrounding counties. Emily handles estate administration cases, including complex dependent administrations. She regularly assists the litigation team in contested probate matters, contested guardianship matters and fiduciary litigation. She takes appointments in Travis and Williamson County as an ad litem attorney in heirship and guardianship cases.
In addition, Emily does estate planning, and especially enjoys working with young families looking to protect their assets and the interests of their family. As the mother of two young children and having tackled these considerations on a personal level, Emily is passionate about assisting other growing families in ensuring that their children’s needs are provided for in any situation.
Prior to this, Emily had a background working in civil litigation and family law, where she assisted families in handling divorce and child custody issues. She brings with her experience and familiarity in community property issues and pre-marital/post-marital agreements. Emily has also volunteered with Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas through pro bono cases and their Legal Advice Clinic.
Emily is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and lives in North Austin with her husband and two young children. She enjoys discovering the up-and-coming food scene in Austin with her family on the weekends..
